Cookies explained

Cookies and browser storage are different mechanisms. This page explains the supplied guide’s behaviour without assuming that every technical component used to deliver a website has identical settings.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small value stored by a browser for a website. Depending on its scope and settings, it may be sent back with later requests. Cookies can support essential technical functions or optional purposes such as analytics. The purpose matters more than the name.

What local storage is

Local storage keeps values in the browser for a website and is not automatically attached to every page request. It can remember a preference across visits. It is still device storage and should not be confused with anonymous or risk-free processing.

What this guide’s code uses

The supplied editorial HTML and JavaScript do not set cookies, write local-storage preferences or load advertising or analytics services. The mobile menu’s open or closed state exists only in the current page. The message drafting tool keeps input in page fields, not in persistent site storage.

Hosting or separately managed site-wide technical services may have their own essential storage behaviour. This page does not assert unverified cookie names or expiry periods for infrastructure outside the supplied editorial code. Any additional deployed storage should be documented with its actual purpose and duration.

Copies you deliberately create

Choosing Copy draft places your message on the device clipboard if permission is available. Choosing Download text creates a local file. Those actions do not set a website cookie, but the resulting text may persist through your device’s clipboard history, synchronisation or file storage settings.

External reference websites

Reference links do not embed those websites into this guide. If you follow a link, the destination may use cookies or other storage under its own policies. Review its notice and controls if you want to understand those practices.

Your browser controls

Most browsers let you inspect and remove cookies and website data, block selected storage and manage clipboard permissions. Look in the browser’s privacy, security or site-settings section. Clearing website data may remove preferences provided by separate site-wide services; deleting downloads and clipboard history requires the relevant device controls.

Blocking cookies should not prevent reading these static editorial pages. Disabling JavaScript prevents the mobile menu toggle and drafting tool from operating; the page content and direct footer links remain available.

Questions

For information about local drafting and email correspondence, see Your privacy. Storage questions can be sent to [email protected]. Describe the observed behaviour without including passwords or private message contents.
